Born and raised in Alaska, Robin grew up in a family of keen observers and commercial fishermen and divided her early years between Cordova and a quiet spot in the Wrangell-St. Elias Mountains.  A naturalist by default, Robin has always found birds and fish utterly fascinating and believes seeing new places, making new discoveries, and just being outdoors is what it’s all about. After graduating from high school, Robin attended college at four universities, on three different continents, in five years, seeing higher education as the perfect mechanism to satisfy both her love of learning and her love of travel.

One summer back in Cordova the flighty local gal with a bird name was introduced to Aaron, who had just arrived in Alaska seeking new adventures of his own. Always willing to try something different and full of impractical ideas, Robin embraced her dream girl status and encouraged Aaron to quit his day job to pursue his first love. She has steadily improved her birder-speak, bookkeeping, and multitasking skills over the years. Just don’t ask her to follow a recipe. While a yard filled with assorted feathered and furred creatures has made leaving home slightly more complicated, Robin, Aaron, and their kids, Phoebe and Zephyr, still gravitate towards adventures, from ten-hour road trips across the state to grandma’s house, a winter in Southeast Asia scouting birding locations, or just rafting the Kenai with cousins.
