Although Robin does not call herself a birder, her fascination with birds and all nature began at a very young age. Born and raised in Alaska, she grew up in a family of naturalists, dividing her early years between Cordova and a quiet spot in the Wrangell-St. Elias Mountains. After graduating from highschool, Robin attended college at four universities, on three different continents, in five years, seeing higher education as the perfect mechanism to satisfy both her love of learning and her love of travel. These travels took her to Mexico, Central America, Guam, Indonesia, New Zealand, and Australia. On a summer trip back to Alaska she met Aaron, who had just arrived in Alaska seeking new adventures of his own. Robin and Aaron live in Homer, Alaska with their daughter Phoebe, son Zephyr, dog Hartney, and a yard filled with assorted chickens, ducks, turkeys, and bunnies.
