Wilderness Birding Adventures is an Alaskan-owned company which has been conducting adventure birding tours and wilderness travel in Alaska for 21 years.  We know the territory, the land, the wildlife, the people and the birds of Alaska.  Our guides, who for the most part hail from Alaska, love to share their extensive knowledge about the geography, wildlife, history and birds and will help you get the most enjoyment from your Alaska adventure.

Although birding is our emphasis, we bring much more to your Alaska adventure.

We welcome seasoned birders and aspiring birders as well as non-birders who are just wildlife enthusiasts in search of adventure.  We offer trips for all levels of interest and ability.

Our destinations include Alaska’s best birding hotspots and Alaska’s most amazing wilderness.  From St. Paul Island to Nome and Gambell to the Brooks Range, we are proud to share our adventuresome style of birding and wildlife viewing with you!

Our Alaskan adventures allow you to travel deep into Alaska's wilderness where you can experience and discover the landscape, ecosystems and wildlife in their most natural state. Venture into the midnight sun where you can “bird around the clock”. We will take you off the beaten path into remote areas that are seldom visited, areas to which birds from the far corners of the globe come to breed, where predatory wildlife must be reckoned with and the weather often influences our schedule.

While we try to bring adventure into your Alaskan vacation, safety is always our number one concern.  We are proud of our spotless safety record in 21 years of operation.

We understand the group dynamics of taking an Alaska adventure vacation or bird tour with people you don’t know. That is the main reason we are your true small group alternative. We limit most trips to eight to ten participants which guarantees lots of attention to you and to logistical details.  We have found small groups are more fun for everyone, including our guides.

At Wilderness Birding Adventures, we pride ourselves on making the least impact possible as we travel and bird through Alaska’s wilderness backcountry. Our meals are healthy, delicious and creative. On backcountry trips, participation in chores is optional and encouraged, as many people find their experience is enriched by that kind of involvement. We take care to ensure a quality adventure, without pampering. To experience Alaska on its own terms is why the word 'adventure' is integral to our name.
