GUEST TESTIMONIALS: WHAT OUR GUESTS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT US

It was a superbly managed trip. My only complaint was that the food was too good and, despite all that exercise, I managed to gain several pounds.

Alice R., Washington, D.C.

I sure enjoyed my trips with your group. They were top-notch and I would highly recommend them to anyone. I hope to return some day and I would not hesitate to use your company again.

Bill D., York, PA

We all felt rejuvenated by those days in the wilderness. It is essential for one’s soul, I believe.

Ann B., San Francisco, CA

The trip on the Canning River was a tremendous experience - because of the two of you, the environment, the animals, the weather, the other people, and my own peace of mind. I can’t imagine how WBA could do any more to make this trip the highlight of a lifetime.

Nancy C., Anchorage, AK

I’ll never forget sitting on the beach and watching a Spectacled Eider float by on an ice floe. Likewise, the memory of lying on the tundra with Bristle-thighed Curlews calling and displaying overhead gets filed away with a few other of the very best experiences in my life!

Mike K., East Lansing, MI

I have to tell you how much I enjoyed my trip to Gambell and Nome with WBA. It was one of the very best birding and travel experiences I have ever had. The birds, the remoteness, the austerely beautiful sea and landscapes, the introduction to another culture, the camaraderie as we faced the physical challenges together.... It was incredible! I would not hesitate for an instant to recommend WBA to anyone travelling to Alaska.

Rachel L., Seattle, WA

First, I want to say thank you. Thank you for your expert leadership, patient help and fine teaching, for all your hard work and your constant positive attitudes….

After the WBA/ANWR trip, I’m happy to have seen and to know I can identify Mew gGulls, Arctic terns, Golden Eagles, Sandhill Cranes, Long-tailed Ducks, Common Eiders, Lapland Longspurs, and many, many other fascinating birds. No small feat considering most of these I’d never heard of, let alone seen before. This intro to birding, watching birders watch birds included, was fascinating....

There is no way to know Alaska until you step into the landscape and look closely. I’m glad I did. I’m glad I went the length of the river, too. In the mountains: caribou herds, day hikes, Dall sheep, the wolverine spotting, the rainbows, the hey-bear willows, the ever-changing views with every variation of green. On the coastal plain, lagoon and Icy Reef: mud, too many braids to count, a bear-on-the-bank that I missed, a moose – my first – swans, arctic fox, the fog, powerful wind and angry sea, indescribable icebergs, expanses of soggy grassland and salty water with mysterious mirage metropolises on the horizon.

What a privilege it was to visit the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Especially to go with Wilderness Birding Adventures. And to share the experience with people like you….The more people know, the more they care…. We were there, you and I, if only for a short time and in a small section of the total reserve. Yet, we understand, don’t we? And that understanding, I think, is what we share and why we care. If we can pass that along…

Janice M., Redlands, CA

We think of our superb kayak trip often and are so terribly glad that we decided we could physically do it and went for it.  Thanks for always welcoming us.  It is a joy to be in the wilderness with you guys.

Meredith P., Tucson, AZ

I am still riding high on my trip to Alaska.  A thrill a minute for the whole trip.  The Pribs, the owls, and Nome were great. But Gambell was just magnificent.  You guys gave me a very special gift.  (Well, I paid for it, but it was worth every penny and much more.)  The birds were, of course, terrific.  But the atmosphere you established, the group effort you maintained, the planning and preparation you did -- just wonderful.  I felt encouraged to do as much as I could, but never under pressure to do too much... One last time -- Thanks for all you have done in providing me with one of the "life experiences" I shall never forget.

Norm B., Durham, NC

This was one of the greatest experiences of my life. WBA has had a profound impact on me. Thanks for a great trip.

Matt H., Dallas, TX

Each year I receive your brochure and it inspires me for the entire year.  I met two alumni of one of your Kongakut trips.  We were trading stories of our wonderful times with you both on the Refuge. Keep up the wonderful work you do to inspire others to protect this sacred place.

Thea L., Issaquah, WA

Thanks for an outstanding, in every way wonderful, trip to the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge! It fulfilled all my hopes, and more. You did a fabulous job of leading the trip, and helping us to enjoy this amazing, gorgeous place and its beautiful birds, mammals, plants (and fish). I would not hesitate to recommend Wilderness Birding trips to anyone, especially the spectacular Kongakut float!

Maggie S., San Francisco, CA

I want to thank you for a trip of a lifetime. The trip itself was a fulfillment of my desire to visit ANWR, But your expertise and dedication to birding was also an inspiration to me. I will order a copy of Sibley’s, and prepare myself better should I be fortunate enough to go on another trip with you. I find it almost a stroke of fate that two guides who complemented each other so well, and six other people whom I genuinely became friends with, could have all found their place on this trip. The rafting of the Marsh Fork-Canning River trip exceeded all of my expectations.

Joe G., Berrien Springs, MI
